Apple, Cisco Unveil Business Partnership

Apple and Cisco said they plan to help workers with iPhones and iPads better exploit Cisco’s video- and Web-conferencing services.

Apple Inc. and Cisco Systems Inc. are working together to help bring more iPhone and iPad users. The business association, announced Monday, is aimed at helping Apple mobile devices more effectively communicate corporate networks where gear Cisco is widely used, the company said.

They also plan to work together on technology to help workers with the iPhone and iPad to make better use of Cisco collaboration products, including video conferences and web-services.Apple CEO Tim Cook and President of Cisco, John Chambers, said his company has been 10 months working in collaboration, which exposed thousands of Cisco sales representatives Monday at a meeting in Las Vegas.

"It is clear to me that the collaboration with Cisco produce results that allow us to transform the work," Cook said in a interview. The announcement comes as Apple, a power in devices sold to consumers, it has taken measures to build greater presence in the business world.

Last year, Apple has reached an agreement with International Business Machines Corp. to jointly create applications for their jobs, while IBM employees help sell and support Apple devices with business momentum is clients. One tablet slowing sales. IPad sales have fallen for six consecutive quarters; Revenue for the iPad fell 24% in the nine months ended June 27 compared with the same period last year.

Cisco, meanwhile, has tried to limit its focus on the most profitable businesses by Chuck Robbins took over as CEO by Mr. Chambers in late July. Mr. Chambers, who relied heavily on acquisitions to become the largest supplier of Cisco networks, Apple said the deal underscores the shifting alliances for major operators.

"Let's talk about a new generation of alliances," Chambers said.

The pact Apple by Cisco comes as companies seek to use smartphones and tablets to make workers more productive. IPhone and iPad are popular within companies, especially through purchases of individual employees, rather than business technology buyers. Few companies can effectively integrate mobile devices with their PC networks and landlines.

Employees with big problems, gentlemen. Cook and Chambers said, is to ensure they receive proper network performance in the workplace. Apple and Cisco said its goal is to establish a "fast track" for iOS devices in the corporate world, focusing on wireless and Web business applications critics are not committed by streaming videos of cats and other dishes that are not working.

Another problem, they said, is that many workers now have your phone address books on your iPhone, not on their desk phones, which can be supplied by Cisco. The integration of these lists is an objective of the association, Cook said.

Cisco, best known for the routing and switching hardware, has diversified into other products used by businesses. $ 1200000000 acquisition of Meraki Inc. in 2012, for example, Cisco has made a bigger management of wireless networks for enterprises player. WebEx service is widely used for conducting online meetings.

Although they are now partners, Cisco and Apple were opponents of the law once. Cisco sued Apple registered the name iPhone in 2007 mark, the name of a Cisco product had acquired. The case was quickly resolved in an agreement that has allowed both companies to use the name.

Apple, now the most valuable companies in the world, has been struggling in the PC era to establish a presence in what is now an annual market 2000000000000 $ for the costs of business technology. Many applications are written only for PC software with Microsoft Corp. Windows, not Apple Mac machines. Now, Apple is using the popularity of their phones and tablets to regain a foothold.

Among other recent moves, Apple has come up with a marketing plan with technology companies to create business-oriented applications. Apple is playing matchmaker to help companies to group applications together for small business of mating, for example, an application with a digital cash register programming application in the workplace.

Apple is expected to introduce the next wave of iPhone at an event in San Francisco on Sept. 9, the company has been working on a larger 12.9-inch tablet iPad which should help attract more business customers.

Cisco Wipes Its Memory From Susceptible-to-Row Hammer List

Make sure you use only original spares:

Cisco has worked through data centre and switch products that may have been vulnerable to the Row Hammer vulnerability, and decided there's nothing with the bridge brand on the front that's subject to the bug.Back at the beginning of the month, Google cheerily announced to the world that writing and re-writing memory in DRAMs could force capacitor errors.

Hammering one row, the report found, could corrupt data in an adjacent row  which if exploited correctly could have resulted in giving kernel-level privilege to normal user-space programs.
When it first announced it was looking at the issue, The Borg said only a limited number of products allowed unprivileged users to load and execute binaries.

These included a handful of Nexus, web security and e-mail security products running various IOS or ASA software.Cisco now says this issue is not exploitable on devices that are equipped with ECC DDRAM and have the ECC checking options enabled in their BIOS. which is the default configuration.

All Cisco UCS products have been cleared if they're using Cisco DIMMs, but if users have installed non-Cisco DIMMs, these could be vulnerable

QUESTION NO : 14

What technique should be used on BGP edge routers to prevent a multi-homed autonomous
system from becoming a transit system?

A. Advertise with a high MED value all networks that are discovered via external BGP.
B. Set the no-export community attribute on all networks that are advertised externally.
C. Remove the AS-Path information on all routes in the BGP table prior to advertising externally.
D. Set the origin code to incomplete for all networks that are discovered via external BGP.
E. Only advertise networks externally if they have been discovered via internal BGP.
F. Use an outgoing distribution list to filter all networks not originating from inside the autonomous system.

Answer: F

Explanation:

The minimum configuration that guarantees you won't become a transit AS is shown in the following example:
router bgp 65000neighbor 10.1.1.1 filter-list 1 out!ip as-path access-list 1 permit
In this example, the outgoing filter list says that all traffic not sourced from the local AS, should not
be advertised. This will prevent the announcement of routes that originated from other
Autonomous Systems, and prevent traffic destined for networks in another AS from going through
your AS. This is useful real-world information to know and if you configure your network with BGP
in a multi-homed environmet, odds are good that you will want to implement this kind of filter.
