Cisco locked out of AT&T SDN data center?

It could be a very unhappy new year for Cisco.AT & T has issued a request for information to around the holidays that could have long-term global market for network infrastructure and Cisco -specific negative implications, the ratio of an investment analyst.

The FRY AT & T aims to gather suppliers of information providers in their plans to embrace software-defined networking and network virtualization capabilities in its products and product architectures to align with the virtualization strategy AT & T 2.0 domain . Domain 2.0 is a virtualization project that seems to embrace network hardware and driver of the white box,SDN goods  according to the report of MKM Partners.

The deadline was 31 December 2013 and AT & T will review the plans until the first half of 2014 , according to MKM.After that,it is expected that requests carrier to issue more specific proposals .
MKM domain believed to 2.0 implementations are likely to occur in the first place in the data center industry AT & T,perhaps in 2015.After that a WAN SDN controller is deployed in 2016,and then AT & T IP routing would converge and deep optical transmission network, the investment firm provides .

AT & T provides the virtualization of the data center network can not jibe with Cisco's strategy, and vice versa, according to MKM.AT & T is already using NSX virtualization platform VMware vSphere network and the cloud computing system.
But even then  the line switching based Cisco Networking - With the Nexus 9000 fabric Centric Application Infrastructure may be " too complex and property compared to white box oriented architectures AT & T seeks , the company claims.

AT & T seems to be particularly worried about competing with cloud services offered by the likes of Google and Amazon and is likely to continue some of the concepts of virtual networks established white box implementations of these companies early SDN.

As a result, the long-term plan from AT & T 2.0 Domain are negative Cisco more positive for Ciena,Finisar,F5 Networks and VMware.MKM notes that both Cisco and Juniper do little or nothing enterprise datacenter AT & T and, with the exception of a few sales of network security appliances.
The WAN is a different story  Cisco and Juniper routers will continue to sell both proprietary and cutting edge for AT & T in the coming years, provides for the MKM.But this does not necessarily give them the benefit of the SDN controller WAN project of the company in 2016 - MKM notes that,as AT & T converge its routing and optical levels, the monitoring infrastructure SDN,which could come down to a supplier and optical media Ciena,Infinera .

What can induce acquire Ciena Cisco or Juniper or Infinera,MKM postulates .
So it seems that,on the supplier side, however, the status quo to the domain of AT & T 2.0 even if the project is anything but.
